Apple Enables Sleep Apnea Notifications and Hearing Aids for Malaysian Users

Apple today introduced two new health-focused features for users in Malaysia, namely sleep apnea notification support via Apple Watch, and hearing aid support via AirPods Pro 2. Starting today, users of both devices in Malaysia can enjoy the features. No software update is required, and they are enabled for all iOS 18 users.

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder, causing breathing to be interrupted several times during sleep. A large number of those with this condition are undiagnosed and unaware of this problem, and with notification support on Apple Watch, it is easier for users to find out about it for further review with a doctor.

Apple makes this support possible through metrics of sleep-disordered breathing, through the use of sensors on the Apple Watch. The data will be collected for 30 days, before being shared with users about this sleep apnea problem – before users can bring the data for further diagnosis with a doctor.

To use this feature, users need to use it with Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

In addition, Apple has also activated the hearing aid feature through AirPods Pro 2 in Malaysia. Through this feature, users can now perform a test regarding the hearing rate of the right and left ears, and then it will activate the hearing aid feature by optimizing the sound for a user's ears.

Apple says the hearing test through the use of AirPods Pro 2 is clinical-grade, and can be done in a quiet room by the user. This test is about 5 minutes, where the user has to answer whether or not they hear a sound. After the test, the data will be saved to Apple Health, and users can also make a number of settings to ensure better hearing. AirPods Pro 2 will also start reducing loud noises to be better for the user's hearing through this update.

To use this hearing aid feature, users need to use AirPods Pro 2 with the latest software update, which is integrated with an iPhone running iOS 18 and later. This feature is also intended for those over 18 years old.

Both of these updates can be enjoyed by Malaysian users starting today.
