BYD is now introducing their new offering called “Lingyuan”, which is a mount that is installed on BYD cars, allowing drones to be released from the top of the vehicle for several purposes. BYD is working with DJI for this purpose.
By having a drone on the vehicle, it allows users to also use it for exploration purposes, and see the journey ahead more easily – such as seeing the road traffic situation and what is ahead during congestion.
The drone release technology is also seen to be integrated with vehicle controls, making it easier for drivers to release and return the drone to the vehicle. This “Lingyuan” offering is seen to be available for all BYD vehicle models on the market.
The drone is also said to be able to follow the vehicle at speeds of up to 54km/h. If the battery on the drone is low, it will return to the vehicle to charge.
BYD aims with this integration, it will make driving more interesting than usual. At the moment, the selling price of this mount and drone for the global market is still unknown.
