Last week, Anthropic updated their AI chatbot Claude with the ability to search for information on the Internet. It still uses the Claude 3.7 Sonnet model, but the information searched on the Internet is automatic and users cannot do it manually. It is also limited to paid customers and it was recently revealed that this feature uses Brave Search technology.
A software developer shared this on Bluesky, where Anthropic listed Brave Search in their Claude sub-processing list. Another developer found that every time Claude searches the Internet, a line of code BraveSearchParams is found running. Last week, Anthropic and Claude did not disclose what technology is behind their AI search technology.
Brave Search is Brave's answer to Google Search. It also has its own AI search technology that also helps Mistral Le Chat for its AI search feature.
