Gmail Now Shows Most Relevant Emails at the Top When Searching

The email search function in Gmail has been around since the beginning of its operation. This morning Google updated the search function that will now show the most relevant emails to the account owner at the top. This is done with the help of artificial intelligence (AI) that looks at whether the email has been opened, how often it was opened and sent by the person who is frequently contacted. The algorithm will then give priority to these emails when searching.

This is different from the previous function that gave priority to keywords in the given search query. Anyone who has used Gmail will agree that this is not very helpful. Users are still given control to display the most relevant email search results or in chronological order.

Google says that this smarter search feature is being activated for personal account owners in stages first on the website, Android and iOS apps. Business users will receive it at an unspecified date.
