Telekom Malaysia now appears to have terminated the Streamyx / Unifi Lite service, in line with the previous notice that it would terminate it on March 18, 2025. The page on TM's official website now displays a notice of Streamx or Unifi Lite upgrade to Unifi Broadband, where users can check their account's eligibility for the upgrade.
Streamyx was previously one of the internet services that pioneered faster internet access, before the arrival of the fiber-optic internet era.
Streamyx has been offered since 2001, and when introduced it came with a 384kbps speed package. When introduced, it also came with unlimited voice calls for home phones, in addition to unlimited internet access - unlike dial-up which requires payment based on usage. It also comes with an @streamyx.com email account which was also used by many in the past. This email service was terminated by TM earlier.
Streamyx used to offer speeds of up to 8Mbps using a fixed-line connection. Telekom Malaysia has since started introducing fiber-based internet services since 2010, under the Unifi brand.
