Google Cloud and Selangor Government Introduce Teraju AI Initiative

The Selangor Government has allocated RM5 million through the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) to implement the “Teraju AI Selangor” initiative with Google Cloud.

The initiative aims to empower state government agencies through artificial intelligence (AI) technology to improve public services in the communication, education, healthcare, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.

A total of 11 state government agencies will participate in the first phase of the Teraju AI initiative, which is planned to last for three years. Through this initiative, the staff involved will undergo specially designed practical training to develop strategic AI solutions to improve the efficiency of state administration.

The project also introduces the first AI innovation sandbox in the Malaysian public sector as a platform to test AI technologies. In addition, an industry incubator will be established to support startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Selangor. The government is also emphasizing the safe and ethical use of data to reduce cybersecurity risks.

In general, this initiative resembles the concept of “AI at work”, which aims to increase productivity and effectiveness in the workplace, thereby positively impacting public services for the benefit of the public.
