Google today shared the results of their experiment involving a small number of users in Europe, where Google removed the display of news content on their service for the users involved. From the experiment, Google said it had no impact on their advertising revenue through search.
This also shows that news content on their platform does not provide any impact or high value in terms of revenue.
This experiment was conducted by Google in parallel with several countries that say Google uses high-value news content for the search engine provider – and there are some countries asking Google and other technology companies to pay for it. However, with the results of this experiment, it shows that news content does not have a revenue impact on Google.
Previously, Facebook has also done the same thing, and shared that it also had no impact on their usage and revenue.
