Google Pixel Fingerprint Scanner Will Soon Be Usable When the Screen is Off

Innovation or “innovation”, the Google Pixel 9 has recently tested a biometric scanning feature that many may not have expected Google to provide on their devices. This feature is related to security for users to scan their fingerprints in order to unlock the device. Starting with Android 16 Beta 3, the Pixel 9 offers what other device manufacturers already offer.

This feature is to scan fingerprints when the screen is off or inactive. For years, users of Pixel 6 devices and above (which have a fingerprint scanner under the screen) have had to make sure the screen is on before the finger can be scanned. This new update follows what Chinese Android device manufacturers have been doing for a long time and believe me, although it may not seem to have any effect – this feature is actually very useful.

When this feature was tested, it was limited to Pixel 9 only. However, after the Android 16 Beta 3 update, this feature is enabled for all Pixel devices with a fingerprint scanner under the screen. This feature is expected to be introduced in the stable version of Android 16 later.
