Huawei has stopped offering laptops and desktop PCs after they were also prevented from accessing Intel chips. This is another effort by the United States to prevent Huawei from rising again after being subjected to technological barriers since 2019. Recently, the new Kirin X90 chip has been leaked and it is the chip for Huawei's first ARM-based PC.
The Kirin X90 will be marketed as a rival to the Snapdragon X and Apple M series. It is believed to be produced using 7nm technology by SMIC, just like the Kirin 9010 used by the Mate XT Ultimate. Not much information about the X90 is known at this time, but it is likely to be used in the MateBook series. The Windows operating system will not be used, but will be replaced with HarmonyOS PC.
At the initial stage, it can be predicted that products with the Kirin X90 will be marketed in China only first before being offered to the global market. Malaysia, as one of Huawei's main markets, will certainly be the second wave of countries to receive it if they want to market the first PC with its own designed chip and operating system.
