Instagram Considering Launching a Separate App for Reels – To Compete With TikTok

Instagram was originally introduced with a focus on photo sharing, before expanding support for video. With the popularity of Snapchat, they added the Stories feature, and with the popularity of TikTok, Instagram also added a feature called Reels, which is a short vertical video.

Now, a new report says that Instagram is considering launching a separate dedicated app just for Reels. The app is expected to provide a TikTok-like experience, where users can scroll through videos continuously without limits.

Other features planned for the app are not yet known, and it is still a question mark whether the app will also include e-commerce support or otherwise. However, the launch of a separate Reels app is expected to allow Meta to compete more effectively with TikTok.

In addition to this app that was under consideration, previously when TikTok and CapCut were banned in the United States, Meta has also announced that it will introduce a special video editing app called Edits soon. Under Instagram, Meta also operates an X-like social media app called Threads.
