Microsoft today announced that they will end the popular video calling service Skype on May 5, 2025. Microsoft previously acquired Skype about 14 years ago.
Microsoft is now giving Skype users about 10 weeks to transfer their various data to Microsoft Teams. With this move, Microsoft is seen to be focusing more on the development of Teams.
The termination of Skype has been eagerly awaited by many for many years, not to mention since the launch of Microsoft Teams, updates for Skype and its development have also been given little attention. Skype has previously popularized audio and video calls over the internet. However, with the development of smartphones and others, it has made Skype a little behind various other competitors, including WhatsApp. However, it is actively used for enterprise purposes, because of the quality offered through it.
For those of you who still use Skype, you may now be able to start the process of transferring your account to Microsoft Teams.
