A few days ago, Nothing launched two of their new mid-range devices, the Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. Both of these devices were launched before the Phone (3) because they realized that mid-range devices sell better than flagship devices. Today, they are officially launched in Malaysia.
Nothing Phone (3a) and Nothing Phone (3a) Pro are actually the same device. The main difference is only in the camera configuration and rear design. Nothing has again collaborated with Qualcomm to use the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip on the Phone (3a) series. The screen used is a 6.77″ FHD+ flexible OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate instead of LTPO, a 1000Hz sampling rate and supports HDR10+ without DRM for Netflix and Prime Video.
For memory, it uses 12GB LPDDR5 RAM + 8GB virtual memory and 256GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. The camera configuration is also the same, 50+50+8 Megapixels, but the zoom sensor on the Phone (3a) Pro is a periscope type with 3x optical zoom, while on the Phone (3a) it is a telephoto type with 2x optical zoom. Then the pro model comes with a 50MP selfie camera, while the regular model with only 32MP. Around the camera, the Glpyh lighting system is still maintained.
The Nothing Phone (3a) series is also the beginning of Nothing's AI devices because they include a physical AI Essential Key button to call Essential Space. It is a special application for managing screenshots with generative artificial intelligence technology summarizing content and providing suggestions such as reminders. The device's battery is 5000mAh with 50W charging. There is no wireless charging and Qi2 support. Both devices are also upgraded to IP64 protection compared to IP54. Then stereo speakers are used.
This new Nothing smartphone also runs Nothing OS 3.1 with new widgets and Circle to Search support built-in. Nothing also promises 3+6 years of updates for their new devices.
The selling price in Malaysia for the Nothing Phone (3a) is RM1,699 (12+256 GB) with a choice of black, white or blue. While the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro is RM1,999 (12+256 GB) with a choice of grey or black.
Pre-orders for the Phone (3a) will start on March 8 with sales on March 22. Meanwhile, pre-orders for the Phone (3a) Pro are the same but the sale is a little later, on April 7.
For every purchase, Nothing will give a Nothing Crossbody bag, Nothing sticker, protective case, CMF Buds, 1-year extended warranty and 1-year cracked screen warranty.
For those who want to get this device early, the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro will be sold at Crossover Sunway Pyramid on March 5, 2025 as early as 11 am.
