NVIDIA Investigates If ROP Loss Issue on GPUs Occurs on Gaming Laptop Graphics Cards

A few weeks ago, we reported that a number of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 graphics card models have experienced an issue where they lose a number of ROP chips, causing the graphics card to not perform as well as it should.

Recently, NVIDIA confirmed that they will investigate the issue on their laptop graphics cards to ensure that this issue does not occur. On a laptop, the issue of ROP cluster loss can be seen as something very serious because users or manufacturers cannot simply remove the GPU component like on a desktop computer, and will have to replace the entire laptop.

This is expected to cause a slight delay in the production of gaming laptops with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 series of graphics cards, where it is expected that these laptops will only arrive in certain markets in April 2025.

Currently, pre-orders for gaming laptops powered by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5000 graphics cards from ASUS and MSI are already available for the local market.
