Last November, we reported that Google would allow parents or guardians to share their Google Wallet payment cards with their children via Family Link. Yesterday, the feature was enabled and rolled out to a select number of users.
For now, only parents/guardians in the US, UK, Spain, Australia and Poland can use it. Not only that, in addition to the shareable payment cards – Google is also allowing access to tickets or any digital passes that support Google Wallet. Children will be able to use Google Wallet just like their parents do, but every transaction can be monitored and parents will receive notifications either on Family Link or via email.
The feature will be enabled in select countries first before being rolled out more widely. This could be a great alternative to digital wallets or prepaid debit cards for children that may have hidden fees or confusing subscriptions.
