TikTok was allowed to resume operations in the United States on January 20 after President Trump extended the sale period of this social media platform for up to 75 days. Among the parties that expressed interest in buying TikTok is a group led by MrBeast. Today, President Trump confirmed that there are four groups that want to buy TikTok.
He did not reveal the names of these four groups but simply said that all of their offers were good. He also hinted that an announcement of who successfully bought TikTok from Bytedance would be made in the near future. Trump wanted to ban TikTok since 2019 before it was finally banned by President Biden after it failed to be sold to a US-based entity.
The sale was made because there is an act in the United States that prohibits applications developed in foreign countries from being offered to US users. This all started after the United States accused China of using applications like TikTok to spy on the movements of US citizens. Bytedance has denied this claim several times.
