The Samsung 9100 PRO SSD has been launched with read speeds of 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of 13,400 MB/s. This is up to 99% faster than the 990 PRO which had speeds of 7,450 MB/s / 6,900 MB/s. This speed increase is achieved because the 9100 Pro uses a PCIe 5.0 interface compared to the PCIe 4.0 of the 990 Pro.
This makes it the storage of choice for content creators, video game enthusiasts, and even artificial intelligence applications. In addition to being faster, the 9100 Pro also reduces power consumption by up to 49% compared to previous-generation SSDs, allowing it to operate at lower temperatures.
Unlike previous Samsung SSDs, the 9100 Pro also comes with a built-in heat sink. The 1TB, 2TB and 4TB models feature an 8.8mmT heat sink while the 8TB model features an 11.25mmT heat sink.
So far, only the sales prices for the Indian market have been announced and they are as follows. The 1TB, 2TB and 4TB models will be available starting March 19 while the 8TB model will be available starting H2 2025.
