During the launch of the Galaxy S25 series last month, the existence of a tri-folding screen device was teased along with smart glasses and even an XR headset. Previous rumors said that the device would be launched as the Galaxy G Fold in a few years. However, according to a report by ETNews yesterday, the Galaxy G will be launched alongside the Galaxy Z Fold7 around July.
As we reported earlier, the Galaxy G has a 6.49″ outer screen that expands to 9.96″ when unfolded. The design of the Galaxy G will not be the same as the Mate XT Ultimate which was the world’s first tri-folding device. Instead, the Galaxy G will follow the design of the previous Flex G prototype.
Both the left and right doors of the screen will fold inwards. Therefore, the foldable screen will not be vulnerable to damage. This is probably the best design choice because one of the issues with the outward folding used on the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate and Mate X is that damage occurs because the folding screen does not have a more durable glass layer to prevent damage.
Samsung is also believed to be producing a limited number of the Galaxy G first. This is the same marketing tactic as last year's Galaxy Ring. More widespread marketing will only be done if there is a high demand for the tri-fold screen device among consumers.
