The Sarawak Baitulmal Fund has now shared that it will introduce the zakat fitrah payment method via QR, as an alternative to cash payments. This move is also seen in line with the increasing use of cashless payment methods today.
For the time being, this initiative will be started in Kuching, Sarawak, before being expanded to the rest of Sarawak in 2026. To make this a success, the Sarawak Baitulmal Fund is collaborating with Bank Islam Malaysia.
This new method is also expected to further increase the efficiency of zakat collection, while reducing the risk of losing physical receipts.
