Apple is expected to introduce a phone with a foldable screen by the end of 2026. This iPhone is said to have a 7.8-inch Samsung-made inner screen without a fold effect and a 5.5-inch outer screen. Recently, British Bank Barclays analyst Tim Long predicted that the selling price of this device may start at $2,300 (~RM10,191).
Long shared that he has met with suppliers and component manufacturers around Asia. After various discussions, he believes that the iPhone with a foldable screen will be sold in limited quantities. For the US sales price, it may reach double the starting price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max which is $2,398 ($1,199 x2, ~RM10,623). When compared to the Malaysian sales price, this foldable iPhone may be sold at a price of around RM11,998 (RM5,999 x2).
This iPhone will also have only two cameras, no Face ID support but will support the Touch ID power button like the iPad Air. The battery technology used is said to be a high-density type for long-lasting durability. The body of the device is titanium with a durable hinge. The most unique thing about the folding iPhone is the screen that is guaranteed not to leave crease marks and it is manufactured by Samsung.
At the moment it is still uncertain if Apple will sell this folding iPhone to all countries or will do limited sales in selected countries like the Apple Vision Pro sales. If the folding iPhone is sold at a starting price of RM12,000, would you buy it?
