TikTok will be banned again from April 4 if it is not sold to a US-based entity. Earlier this year, it stopped operating for a day to follow President Biden's executive order ordering it to be sold. The sale period was extended for 75 days by President Trump on January 20.
With only 9 days left, TikTok has yet to announce who will buy their business. A few weeks ago, Oracle was reported to be the company of choice for President Trump and Bytedance because they have already been involved in the process of transferring US user data to browsers in the country.
In addition, Mr Beast, Microsoft, and Perplexity have also expressed their intention to buy the social media platform that has over 300 million users in the US. The sale order was issued by President Biden because TikTok is accused of giving China access to US user data even though it has been denied by Bytedance, their parent company.
