It’s been two years since Xiaomi launched an S series smartphone as it was busy focusing on the more affordable T series. For those who don’t know, the S series is a performance-enhanced version and the last time was the Xiaomi 12S when the Ultra series was first launched. This year, it may be back with the Xiaomi 15S.
On Weibo, one of Xiaomi’s software directors accidentally shared a sample image with a watermark of the Xiaomi 15S Pro which still uses the Leica camera system. The device is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, possibly an overclocked version but paired with its own XRING camera ISP instead of using the version by Qualcomm. The device’s camera is said to be better than the Xiaomi 15 Pro but still inferior to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The device will also support 90W fast charging and there will be only two models, the Xiaomi 15S and the Xiaomi 15S Pro. It is not clear if the device will be sold widely or only for select countries. The design of the device is expected to remain the same with minor changes. Let’s wait and see.
