Yahoo today is seen selling one of the technology sites TechCrunch to an investment firm, named Regent. The sale price was not disclosed at this time.
TechCrunch was founded around 2005, and this year it is around 20 years old. The TechCrunch site is ready to focus on technology news, while also focusing on startups and the world of investments involving technology companies.
The company that acquired TechCrunch also previously acquired Foundry, the company behind MacWorld and PCWorld. With this acquisition, Regent further strengthens their position and portfolio involving technology media.
Previously, TechCrunch was acquired by AOL in 2010. Shortly after that, Verizon acquired AOL and placed various media brands under Yahoo. In 2021, Verizon sold Yahoo to investment firm Apollo Global.
