To generate revenue, YouTube channel owners will take sponsorship from various companies in the form of ads. These sponsored video ads will remain forever unless the channel owner cuts them off. According to Semafor, YouTube has begun testing where these sponsored video ad segments can be replaced more easily.
It will allow channel owners to display newer ad videos even on older video content. There will no longer be issues with expired promotional ads or products that no longer exist in the video being watched. This feature is still in the testing process with it not known how many YouTube channels have been given early access.
This feature is already offered by platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music to display ads in podcasts offered to listeners. These ads are different from third-party ads that can be inserted now. This feature is only for displaying ads that are read or display the channel owner only.
