Apple is the world's number one smartphone manufacturer in Q1 2025

Apple was the world's largest smartphone manufacturer in Q1 2025, according to a report released by Counterpoint today. It is the first time Apple has held the top spot in the first quarter of the year since it launched the iPhone.

Apple holds 19% of the market followed by Samsung (18%), Xiaomi (14%), Vivo (8%) and Oppo (8%). Overall smartphone shipments during Q1 2025 increased by 3%.

Samsung recorded the largest decline of -5% compared to the same quarter last year and Oppo also decreased by -1%. Other manufacturers recorded increases between 4-6%. The introduction of the iPhone 16e model drove Apple's sales while Xiaomi's 15 series drove Xiaomi's sales.

The data is taken up to the end of March only. As we reported, iPhone sales rose sharply in the United States in late March and early this month due to concerns that the device's price will increase due to Trump's tariffs.
