Apple Vision Pro will receive a lighter, more affordable model that is tethered to a Mac, according to a report by Mark Gurman in Bloomberg this week. According to him, the cheaper and lighter model is still being pursued, although he previously said that the focus is on updating the Vision Pro, which is believed to use the Apple M5 chip.
A cheaper and lighter version is needed because it was a source of public complaints immediately after the Vision Pro was launched. The selling price of over RM16,000 makes it only for hardcore fans and the T20 group. Early owners all complained that the Vision Pro was not comfortable after wearing it for a long time because the entire weight of the headset is borne by the user's nose and face.
At the same time, the development of the Vision Pro connected to the Mac is also believed to be underway. With this, all the processing power will be done by the Mac. This makes this model more similar to the HTC Vive where it only has a screen and sensors and the computer contributes to the processing power.
All the experience of producing the Vision Pro is then believed to be used by Apple to develop smart glasses, which in the same report is said to be Tim Cook's top priority in the near future.
