Instagram founder Kevin Systrom has now shared that he has met with several companies that were interested in buying Instagram, before it was bought by Facebook at the time. Between 2011 and 2012, the Instagram founder met with Twitter, Google and Apple to buy Instagram.
However, the discussions and meetings did not seem to bear fruit. Facebook (now known as Meta) in 2012 bought Instagram for $1 billion, at which time Instagram had around 30 million users. Since then, Instagram has grown rapidly, until today.
For your information, previously in 2010, Apple introduced a social service called Ping, with a focus on music. However, it was closed two years after its introduction, in 2012.
