BYD Starts Selling Two EVs With 400KM Charging System in 5 Minutes



Last month, BYD announced its latest 1000V Super e-platform fast charging system. They can increase the vehicle's range by up to 400 km in just 5 minutes. Today, the BYD Han L and Tang L are finally officially on sale in China after a month of pre-orders.


The BYD Han L is a sedan equipped with a motor of up to 230 kW (308 hp) in the front and 580 kW (778 hp) in the rear. The included BYD Blade 83,212 kWh battery provides a range of up to 601 km CLTC. Through fast charging, the battery can be charged from 0-100% in 20 minutes. Meanwhile, the acceleration time from 0-100 km/h is 2.7 seconds. This is the most premium version offered by BYD.


There is also a model with a RWD motor only and two other PHEV models. The DiPilot 300 self-driving system is also equipped with LiDAR sensors. In addition to the self-driving system, it can also park and perform emergency braking. In China, the BYD Han Le is sold at a starting price of RMB 219,800 (~RM 134,000) per unit.


The second vehicle is the BYD Tang L which is equipped with a motor of up to 810kW (1,100hp) for the AWD model. and a 100.53kWh LFP battery that provides a travel range of up to 670 km CLTC. Through fast charging, the battery can be charged from 0-100% in 20 minutes. There is also an option with a built-in drone but the range of this model is reduced to 560 km/h. Because the Han L is an SUV, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds.


Like the Han L, the Tang L is also equipped with the DiPilot 300 self-driving system with LiDAR, and automatic parking capabilities. In China, the BYD Tang L is sold at a starting price of RMB 239,800 (~RM 145,512) with a PHEV version also available.
