OpenAI announced today that, effective April 30, 2025, they will end their GPT-4 offering through ChatGPT. With this move, ChatGPT will transition to using the GPT-4o model entirely.
GPT-4o offers improvements to the previous GPT-4 model, and offers better capabilities, including in terms of writing, programming, and science, technology, and mathematics. GPT-4o is also a multi-modal offering, supporting a wide variety of input variations.
Although GPT-4 is being discontinued on ChatGPT, OpenAI will continue to offer GPT-4 via an API to developers.
