When buying a device, there are several factors to consider, such as device performance, camera capabilities and waterproofing levels. But all this information is a bit hidden and can only be found on websites. To make it easier for consumers to make purchasing choices in European Union (EU) countries, a label must be placed on all smart devices
In addition, cordless phones, satellite phones, regular cellular phones and tablets with screens between 7″-17″ are also required to come with the same label.
The European Product Registration Label for Energy Labeling (EPREL) will provide information on energy efficiency levels with grades A to G, battery durability on a single charge, number of battery charging cycles, shock resistance when dropped, ease of repair, and water and dust resistance.
All this information must be placed on the box of devices sold starting June 20. The same label has been used on products such as LED lights, refrigerators and air conditioners in the EU since 1994.
