At Google Cloud Next 25, Google launched their latest Tensor Processing Unit (TPU) chip Ironwood. This artificial intelligence (AI) chip is the first developed by Google specifically for inference which is now seen as more important for various AI models than the previous big data processing power.
It is also according to Google the most powerful TPU ever produced as it is the seventh generation chip. Each chip has a processing power of 4,614 TFLOPs and it can perform training of Language Model (LLM) and Mixed Expertise (MoE) which can then think before giving answers.
Google Cloud customers will be given the choice of accessing the Ironwood browser with a configuration of 256 or 9,216 chips. The browser with 9,216 Ironwood chips has a processing power of 42.5 ExaFLOPs which is 24 times more powerful than the world's fastest supercomputer El Capitan.
