Hugging Face is one of the popular firms with its artificial intelligence models, while at the same time democratizing the development of artificial intelligence through open source offerings. Now, in addition to offering artificial intelligence models, Hugging Face has also acquired a company focusing on robotics development, called Pollen Robotics.
What is interesting about Pollen Robotics’ offering is that their humanoid robot called Reachy 2 can run various AI models through it. It is designed to support various open source software offerings – making it very suitable for research, development and other purposes.
This acquisition is also in line with Hugging Face’s vision in expanding the concept of open source, and now also covers the robotics arena. Robots developed with open source software and open AI models are also expected to offer better security and safety than closed models.
Moving forward, Hugging Face also plans to offer the source for the robotics hardware as open source, allowing anyone interested to 3D print and develop it themselves.
