Latest Windows Insider Update Shows ReFS File System Supports 35 Petabytes of Storage

In the latest Windows Insider program update for the Windows 11 operating system, it has been discovered that Microsoft now allows users to use two types of file systems, including NTFS, which is the file system used to install the Windows 11 operating system, and also a new file system known as ReFS.

ReFS, or known as Resilient File System, is a file system that comes with support for partitioning files as large as 35 Petabytes. The advantages of this ReFS file system partitioning are that it helps in improving data integrity, increasing storage performance, and as it is said, supports such giant partitioning, suitable for those who run databases with huge amounts of storage.

Through the screenshot shown, the ReFS file system format can be accessed when users try to install the Windows 11 operating system. But one weakness shown in ReFS is that it cannot be used as a boot drive and removable drive of a computer, so the offering of installing this operating system is something that is expected to be corrected by Microsoft in the future.

But it seems true that Windows 11 will offer the use of the ReFS file system through their latest Build 27823 build version. This new file system support will allow those who use computers with large amounts of storage to combine their various hard disk or SSD storage into one giant storage, such as RAID (Redundant Array of Disks) storage virtualization technology.

At the moment it is not known when Microsoft will introduce this built-in support for ReFS for the Windows 11 operating system on a large scale.
