Nintendo's newest game console, namely the Nintendo Switch 2 will be launched soon, and one of the requirements shown for this console is the use of MicroSD Express card storage which comes with a fairly fast storage size and data reading and writing speed.
In Japan, sales of MicroSD Express cards have seen a sudden increase, with many Nintendo fans apparently preparing for the launch of the console by purchasing these stores.
Hermitage Akihabara, a popular computer store chain in Japan has recently tracked sales of these MicroSD Express cards, and said that around 338 of these storage cards are sold every hour on average after Nintendo made the announcement regarding the console.
Interestingly, previously sales of MicroSD Express cards were seen to be very low because even though it came with a large storage offer and data reading speeds as high as 900MB/s, there was no reason for people to buy this storage especially at such a high price tag.
But now with the confirmation that the Nintendo Switch 2 will use this store, it seems that people, especially in Japan, have started buying it first, and there are many of them who bought more than one of these stores.
For example, a MicroSD Express storage with 1TB storage comes with a price tag of approximately $199.99 (~RM880), so you will understand why this storage card is not very popular among ordinary users.
The Nintendo Switch is expected to be launched on June 5 2025, while for the Malaysian market, it is estimated to arrive around July to September 2025.
