Netflix Stops Reporting Subscriber Numbers

Since becoming the world's most popular paid video streaming platform, Netflix has announced its subscriber count in its quarterly financial reports. But in its quarterly report released yesterday, Netflix said it would no longer disclose it to investors.

Instead, only revenue growth will be disclosed to investors as a measure of the company's performance. In Q1 2025, Netflix recorded a 12.5% increase in revenue compared to the same quarter last year. This was driven by increases in subscription prices for subscribers in the United States, Canada, Portugal and Argentina.

At the end of the last quarter, Netflix recorded 302 million paying subscribers with advertising-supported plans recording the largest growth. Their action to stop reporting subscriber numbers every quarter is due to slowing growth due to competition and economic factors that have not yet recovered post-pandemic.
