Personal computer production in Q1 2025 increased by 6.7% compared to the same quarter last year, according to the latest report by Counterpoint Research. It was driven by purchases due to concerns about the introduction of tariffs by the United States. Lenovo holds the top position with a 25% market share, followed by HP (21%), Dell (16%), Apple (10%) and Asus (6%).
Apple recorded the highest increase of 17%, followed by Lenovo (11%). All five manufacturers with the largest share recorded an increase in production in the past quarter. The purchases were made because the majority of PCs are manufactured in China. The introduction of high tariffs by the United States will lead to an increase in sales.
Although only the United States has introduced high tariffs on Chinese-made products, product prices in all world markets will be affected as manufacturers will raise prices to avoid prices rising too sharply in the United States. It has already been seen that Sony increased the price of the PS5 in Europe, the UK, New Zealand and Australia a week ago. This move will certainly be followed by other manufacturers in the coming weeks.
