Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite Chip Expected to Show Significant Performance Improvement Over Previous Models

Qualcomm seems to be looking to enter the laptop market after dominating the smartphone market for a long time, and with the introduction of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X series of chips, they are on the right track with impressive performance and battery life.

Qualcomm now seems to be preparing to introduce the next series of chips, which will likely be known as the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2.

Focused Digital, a Chinese website that is often seen leaking information related to the supply chain related to the technology industry, said that it is expected that this series of processors is expected to come with a performance improvement of 18 to 22 percent compared to the previous model.

It was also reported that the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Elite processor will have a Boost Clock value of 4.4GHz, a slight increase from the 4.0-4.3GHz shown by the previous Snapdragon X Elite. It is estimated that this 4.4GHz value is the continuous Boost Clock figure, and this will slightly increase the performance of the CPU.

It is currently unknown what process will be used to manufacture this processor. Since the Snapdragon X used TSMC's previous 4nm process, the Snapdragon X2 is expected to use the same or 3nm process to show the performance and efficiency gains.

However, the biggest issue Qualcomm will have to overcome is more related to the amount of software support on the ARM platform versus X86. Qualcomm needs to ensure that their CPUs can support more of the important software used so that the transition to the Arm platform for laptops is smoother.
