Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Chip Launched With Cortex-X4 Cores and 4nm Technology

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip was launched today, fulfilling the prediction that it was just an improvement on the Snapdragon 8s Gen and not a more affordable version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It comes with eight cores using a CPU core configuration of 1x Cortex-X4 3.2GHz, 3x Cortex-A720 3.0GHz, 2x Cortex-A720 2.8GHz, and 2x Cortex-A720 2.0GHz. This is matched with the Adreno 825 GPU. It also still uses 4nm TSMC N4P technology.

According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 CPU is 32% faster and the GPU is 49% faster than the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. In addition, the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU that is included brings an increase in AI processing by up to 44% in addition to an ISP that can support cameras up to 320MP and 4K 60FPS video recording.

The modem is a Snapdragon X75 5G with 5G 6GHz support allowing downloads of up to 4.2Gbps. From an audio perspective, it is another chip that supports Qualcomm XPAN technology allowing audio accessories to be tethered using WiFi. The first device to use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is the iQOO Z10 Turbo.
