Threads, the social media service that operates under Instagram, has now made changes to their domain name, changing the service's access from Threads.net to Threads.com.
For your information, Meta is ready to acquire the Threads.com domain name from Shopify in September 2024. The value of the domain name acquisition was not disclosed by either party.
Starting today, users who visit the old Threads.net URL will be automatically taken to the new URL. This is also seen to provide a more consistent branding for all Meta products that use domains with a .com suffix.
Along with this update, Threads is adding several new features, including access to a personalized timeline according to user tastes and needs. This update comes after Meta announced the introduction of advertising features globally on Threads, also this week.
