US Department of Justice Orders Google to Sell Chrome

After being found guilty of monopolizing the search business last year in the United States, a new trial is now underway on what steps should be taken. In the opening of the case, representatives of the US Department of Justice (DOJ) asked the court to issue an order for Google to sell Chrome.

This is in line with the DOJ's original request that Chrome be sold because it is used by Google to dominate the search engine market. At this time, the DOJ did not ask for Android to be sold as many analysts expected. Google's lawyers said the DOJ's request was too extreme.

In an official statement published, Google said that the order to sell Chrome would "harm the American economy and technology leadership". Google also said that it would require them to share users' personal information with third-party companies that compromise privacy.

The DOJ's request to sell Chrome and Android would also cause security vulnerabilities because it separates the security operations infrastructure currently used.

In addition to being found guilty of practicing a monopoly in the search business, Google has also been found guilty of doing the same in the advertising technology business.
