US President Exempts Phones and Computers from Reciprocal Tariffs

Donald Trump is ready to make several announcements regarding the introduction of reciprocal tariffs, including imposing tariffs of up to 145% on products from China entering the United States. In addition to China, various other countries are also subject to these reciprocal tariffs, including Malaysia.

This led to different reactions in the world, and had an impact on economic activity, including in the United States. This week, Donald Trump made a change in this matter, by announcing that they would postpone the introduction of a number of tariffs for another 90 days.

Not only that, now it has also been announced that smartphones and computers will be exempted from these reciprocal tariffs. This change also covers semiconductors, solar cells, television panels, memory cards, SSDs, and a number of electronic components.

Previously, many were ready to state that the introduction of tariffs on electronic equipment and gadgets would lead to an increase in prices in the United States, since there is no local production capacity there, and developing them would take a long time.

Apple itself had previously flown several planes to stock up before the tariffs, which were originally supposed to take effect last week but were delayed. And now, with this exemption, Apple can continue with its business as usual.
