Xpeng Shares About SEPA 3.0 Architecture – 10-80% Charging in 12 Minutes, Electric Range of 430 KM, Hybrid Range of Up to 1400KM



Today Xpeng held an event with the media and shared a little bit about various things and one of them is the electric technology they are developing. Jacky Gu is the chairman in charge of the electric drive division shared about SEPA 3.0, it is an acronym for Smart Electric Platform Architecture which is advanced but still uses the 800V architecture but has improved its capabilities especially in terms of range and efficiency of use.


Until now, the electric cars sold by Xpeng such as the G6, G9 and the newly launched in Malaysia, the X9, use the 800V architecture, which allows for improved charging speeds. All three vehicles use SEPA 2.0, the battery can be charged faster, such as the G6 can be charged 20-80% in less than 20 minutes.


Today they shared more information about their latest platform, SEPA 3.0, which has an electric range of 430 km or can provide a hybrid range of up to 1400km, although both use 800V architecture. The SEPA 3.0 platform can also save the size of the coaxial engine 30% smaller than before, it has a coaxial electric motor that supports 800V architecture, can produce a maximum torque of up to 4800 Nm and uses a bulletproof battery pack. Through SEPA 3.0, the battery pack can also accelerate charging from 10-80% up to as fast as 12 minutes, has an energy density of 145 Wh / kg, is waterproof IP 68, and uses liquid cooling.


The SEPA 3.0 platform also brings benefits to the hybrid system, where not only the range offered is up to 1400km, but also in terms of engine noise which only increases by 1dB if the engine is working. Professor Chen Qing Quan, who is known as the ‘Father of the Asian Electric Vehicle Industry’, also stated the need for hybrid systems to increase travel range because batteries that are too dense have their own risks. Therefore, if hybrids can increase travel range, it is a more effective solution.


SEPA 3.0 will be used on electric cars and also hybrids produced by Xpeng in the future and with the introduction of this platform, it will certainly make it easier for potential users to reduce charging time on daily trips.
