Duolingo is an app that teaches you how to speak other languages casually and in a short amount of time. A Duolingo “language class” typically only takes a few minutes, and teaches you simple phrases in an easy-to-understand way.
Recently, Duolingo is introducing a new class where you can learn how to play chess. Duolingo will teach you the basics of the game, such as positioning and how to move each piece.
Each chess tutorial shown will also teach you a little bit about chess strategy, and what to do if you find yourself in a situation where you are about to lose.
You will also be able to play chess with Duolingo’s mascot, Oscar, who will also teach you how to play the game.
Duolingo said that this chess learning feature will be introduced to a limited number of users of the app on the iOS platform first, before this update is shown more widely.
This feature will later be shown on the Android platform, but at this time it is unknown when this update will occur for that platform.
