YouTube celebrated its 20th anniversary yesterday with the announcement that there are now 20 trillion videos in their library. In addition to sharing some interesting facts, YouTube also announced several new features that will be introduced in the near future.
For TV app users, a new interface for the video player will be provided. Access to control buttons will be simplified as well as getting information about the video and accessing comments like the screenshot above.
For YouTube Premium subscribers, they will soon be able to access the feature of watching videos at 4X speed. Currently, regular subscribers can only watch videos at 2X speed. Channel owners will soon be able to leave comments in the form of audio. This feature is currently being tested and is only available to selected channels.
Next, YouTube Premium and Music subscribers will also be able to access the Ask Music feature. They can give YouTube a description of what genre or mood of the song they want to listen to. A playlist will be generated based on previous viewing history. At the initial stage, Ask Music only supports voice commands in English in certain countries.
Finally, YouTube TV users will be given the Multiview feature, with four channels that can be watched simultaneously and can be personalized by the user.
