YTL to Develop 1,600 Kilometers of Fiber Optic Infrastructure on Railway Tracks

YTL Communications has been announced as the company selected to develop 1,600 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure along railway tracks in Malaysia. This development is said to be one of the methods of improving and strengthening Malaysia's own digital network and infrastructure.

This optical fiber will pass through Padang Besar to Johor Bahru and up to Tumpat in Kelantan.

This offer makes YTL the second company to develop such infrastructure, after Fiberail Sdn Bhd, which already has exclusive rights until 2032. Any new development will be carried out through joint technical negotiations, without disrupting any existing infrastructure.

At the same time, the Minister of Transport said that this offer is not exclusive to YTL Communications, and will also consider other communication providers from time to time.
